What is the difference between Yoga and Yoga Therapy?
Although all yoga is therapeutic to some degree, not every class is considered yoga therapy. A yoga therapist applies the science, philosophy, and technique of yoga to help alleviate a specific problem (physical, mental, emotional, of spiritual). Yoga therapy uses yoga as a process of learning about oneself as a tool for empowerment, ultimately leading to improved health and wellbeing. Contrary to a regular yoga class, in yoga therapy the sessions are geared entirely to the needs of the individual, aiming to improve specific aliments over a period of time.
